"Hemp for Victory"
An American Government Film

Many people are now very much aware of this film.  So, only the last 2 minutes of the film are offered on this web page for your enjoyment.  A different segment can be located on the "Welcome Page" of this site.  To review the last 2 minutes of 'Hemp 4 Victory', click on the image to the left.

Ever since the dawning of the War On Drugs, inaccurate reporting, yellow journalism, and deliberate misinformation being released into the public arena, has served to galvanize the hysteria about the plant known as marijuana.

In spite of this, every now and then, a rational approach to the topic of hemp will surface on programs such as '60-Minutes' or '20/20'; or in magazines such as Newsweek or TIME.  Aside from these exceptions, the reporting is usually one-sided and delivered in sound bites.

To end this hysteria, it is important to inform the truth about hemp to the most amount of people in the least amount of time.  With that in mind, this little presentation is free to down-load and share with anyone and everyone around the world via personal computer and iPod.

This 7-part series has been blended with remarkable music promoting re-legalizing marijuana.  Each song selected for this presentation is  considered to be a staple in the Hemp Movement and will make you tap your toes and want to sing along.

'The Real Dirt About Hemp' details:

* the many ways in which the reintroduction of hemp as a cash crop for industrial use can benefit the ecology and our world economy;

* the many laws of prohibition and the suggested legal reforms offered by lawyers, judges, and law enforcement officials;

* the many millions of people who would benefit from the reintroduction of hemp as a medicine.

Many of the guests of 'A Time 4 Hemp' make reference to the film that was released in 1942 by the United States Department of Agriculture called, 'Hemp for Victory'.  This presentation came just six years after the production of 'Reefer Madness' (the classic film that helped to define marijuana as 'the Assassin of Youth') and is the only factual presentation by the United States Government on the topic of this plant.  Why did the United States government have such a sudden change of policy about growing hemp on American soil after such a vigorous campaign to eradicate it from our land?  Well, according to the transcript:

 "But now, with Philippine and East Indian sources of hemp in the hands of the Japanese, the shipment of jute from India curtailed, American hemp must meet the needs of our Army and Navy, as well as of our industry.  In 1942, patriotic farmers at the government's request planted 36,000 acres of seed hemp, an increase of several thousand percent.  The goal for 1943 is 50,000 acres of seed hemp."

It was so important to the United States Government for Americans to grow hemp that the farmers who agreed to do so were waived from serving in the military as well as were their sons.  The United States Department of Agriculture even promoted the growing of hemp to the children in the schools of Kentucky through the 4-H clubs.
